xAPI Functionality Test

Learning Management Systems have been used for quite some time but by using xAPI Javascript and a Learning Records Store (LRS) we can get much more detailed information on the learner experience and which areas they are pausing or having difficulty on. Using Gagne’s nine events of instruction as material, I set up this test with the goal of being able to report to my stakeholders which specific areas were in need of further training.
This collection of granular data allowed me to use the visualization software within Talent LRS to display to the stakeholders the
  • Count of failed attempt prior to passing, which identifies learners that may need more training,
  • Questions with high error rate percentages, which identifies concepts that learners are having difficulty with, alongside the questions that learners are getting wrong.
With this data. stakeholders are able to make more informed decisions on the efficacy of the training as well as make decisions on whether further training as needed.  Coupled with a term specific measurement of change using a situation specific KPI a clear return on investment can be determined.
